Re: Opening sealed games on YouTube
freaking guy....
I know the game...it is not that rare.
Wanna see a guy opening a sealed Chrono Trigger
But the "sealed issue" has hitting youtube...very good for us

Yea, seems there's a lot of stigmatism and taboo still surrounding our cherished hobby, and something that people seem to like to mock on YouTube

Re: Opening sealed games on YouTube
To me, it's the same fanboyish mentality that sparks the console wars.
Some say 360 is better than PS3 or vice versa. Some say opened is better than sealed and vice version.
Why doesn't everyone realize they can have both and move on?

I agree. To me, this is senseless. I don't understand people whod edicate their life to one or the other. It's a case of either you can afford both, or just one. You shouldn't slate the PS3 just because you can only afford the X360, and not both. At the end of the day, the specs and games speak for themselves - PS3 has the better specs, but the X360 has the better game library. And even then it's down to personal preference to what games you like.
The issue with sealed games is all down to the fact that the people who don't collect them simply can't afford to, and therefore feel they have to mock those that can and do. Likewise, the X360 fanboys who mock PS3 owners simply can't afford a PS3, and those that can and mock X360 owners are the ones that can't afford to own both, and therefore the only people who should be granted an opinion are those who DO own both.

Well it's a good thing if they open their sealed games, it will only make the ones we have more rare and more valuable :-)

I can't believe he paid $170 for it and then opened it! I assume he was at some kind of convention? That would break my heart if I was the guy who sold it to him and then watched that video, especially if i'd cherished it and cared for it for the last 20+ years!

Re: Opening sealed games on YouTube
This is actually how I get good deals on some sealed, rare games. I've bought games under the condition that if I get them for X price, I HAVE to open and play them. This has been the case with Burning Rangers for Saturn, Mushihimesama for PS2, and a SLEW of hard to find imports (Radirgy, Ikaruga, etc).
I never thought to tape them, but I stand by my word that I'd opened and played all of them (and they're all AWESOME).
I'm about to crack open numerous sealed imports I just got in the mail, as well as some sealed Genesis games. The problem is finding opened copies to get in exchange for the sealed ones. Once I traded rarebucky a sealed first print Border Down + Trizeal for Trizeal and a handful of mint GBA games. Totally worth it to me even though I didn't get a Border Down in return, since I've played everything. I just had to go out and buy Border Down after. :-P
Either way, I look at it like this: if someone opens a really rare game, and I have a copy sealed already, great. Good for me. Mine's worth more.
And, good for the person that opens it. As long as it's a good game, they have a great game to play!

Re: Opening sealed games on YouTube
there are other "unspeakable" ways to play games without actually opening them, especially for those older systems like dreamcast.

Re: Opening sealed games on YouTube
I have a 4 in one Shmup disc, but the only game on it I don't have opened is Psyvariar 2. However, I hate playing "The Unspeakable" on my DC, so I am probably going to crack open Psyvariar 2 this weekend.

Why not just buy a used copy, play it, and resell it for what you paid (Or for more if you are lucky!)?

Eh, I hate putting the money forward then having to take the time to sell the sealed copy. Though really, that's probably the best idea. I know an opened Psyvariar 2 is about $50, so maybe I could get $70+ for the sealed one and just buy an opened one. Hate having to track it down though.
Now you guys are making me question myself!
Re: Opening sealed games on YouTube
Somebody here on the forum mentioned a video where someone opened a saturn game (i think) and found a NHL disc inside. Anyone know it and can post it here, because i can not find it.

Searched for Snatcher Sega CD
One for the paranoid US collector's
That said, i'm always consccious that any one of my own games could be a very good reseal - Although unlikely, it's not impossible. One plus point for the European's and our branded tear strips

The first. Which I guess is more common than say, a sealed II or even III.
