Gemini-Phoenix's Sealed PAL PlayStation 2 Games
Ever since 1997 when I bought my first PlayStation, I have always been a fan of the PlayStation over any other console. It's diverse range of games spanning many genres was appealing, plus it had many games for my favourite genre - RPG's. I then upgraded to the "Next-gen" in 2003, and the PS2 was the first of the three "Next-gen" consoles I bought (Even though I bought all three on the same day, the PS2 was the one I bought first)
Again, Sony repeated its success with the PlayStation brand, and again I was not disappointed! Many of the greatest games ever made have featured on either the original PlayStation or the PS2, and many series have gone on to establish themseves on one or the other. Many of my favourite PS2 games are sequels to games that first started life out on the original PlayStation. The best type of games are those that just appear out of nowhere - Games like Gitaroo Man, Guitar Hero, or Katamari Damacy. Other games continue to set the standard - Games like Final Fantasy X, Grand Theft Auto III , or Gran Turismo III A-spec (And their successors) have all progressed both their respective genre's and the PlayStation onwards and upwards over the years
The PS2 has always been shrouded with controvocy though, thanks to developers like Rockstar always trying to break the boundaries. Games like Grand Theft Auto III, Bully, Smuggler's Run being the household names at the forefront of media coverage, alongside other games like God Of War, The Suffering, the Silent Hill series, and Manhunt etc... Evolving the way we play games, and the industry around them
I first started to collect sealed copies of PS2 games around the time I noticed that certain genre's of games on the PlayStation became rarer. Most notably, puzzlers and RPG's. As RPG's are my preferred genreof games, collecting these was no hassle as I would have bought them anyway! Years later, it seems history does indeed repeat itself, and with a few exceptions, many games I had "Predicted" to become sought after, actually are!
Throughout my collecting I also noticed another common trend - Konami games virtually dominated the top ten rarest games on each system prior to the PS2 (Ie, Snes, Mega Drive, PlayStation etc), so I set upon seeking out sealed Konami games for my collection, unknowing at the time that this would be a much harder task than I had expected... Konami, you see, have a reputation for not sealing many copies of their UK PlayStation branded games (This includes PlayStation, PS2, and also PSP releases) - Meaning it would be harder for me to track down certain titles, even upon week of release (For example, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops on the PSP has just been released, yet I cannot find a sealed copy anywhere!) ~ These sealed Konami games are my most treasured and probably the rarest of my PS2 games. It also forms quite a nice sub-collection spanning various consoles. Koei games have also started to become much harder to find in sealed condition
I have so far collected a fair amount of PlayStation 2 games over the years (Just over 150 in total, with around 120 of them being sealed), but I always feel as if there are just as many still left to get! I have an immense list of games I would still like to aquire, but many of them are very hard to find these days, especially sealed (Eg, Dark Cloud or Gungrave) - Others are just blatently rare and very expensive!
So, by popular demand...
Here is my collection of factory sealed PAL PlayStation 2 games:

Very hard! My spare room is being converted into a game room and is currently under construction. All of my collection is boxed up until the display shelves are fitted. Once the work has been completed, I can then display my collection on the shelves, but at the moment it's very difficult to take pictures of anything whilst it's all in storage.
pooch wrote:How do you decide which games you buy?
I tend to buy games I want. I like RPG's, so many of the games I have are RPG's, but I also buy a lot of LE's and exclusives. I tend to keep away from the casual gamer games (Your usual EA / THQ offerings) and stick to established franchises. Most casual games don't really appeal to me anyway. I also tend not to buy any sports games or movie tie-in games either, as these aren't really my type of game. Sometimes I do like to browse eBay and just pick off a couple of 99p games just for the fun of it, but these are usually games I would want anyway! Lol
Some games I buy simply because they are rare or particularly hard to get hold of in sealed condition, which is why you might see a few games that look out of place, and also a few exceptions to what I mentioned above (Notably Pro Evolution Soccer games as they are made by Konami and form part of my Konami sub-collection)

Re: Gemini-Phoenix's Sealed PAL PlayStation 2 Games
Added Gungrave, which is a prime example of a rare game that can be worth next to nothing in used condition, yet a lot in sealed condition. I paid a reasonable £30 for the privilage of a sealed copy, yet used copies barely sell for a fiver (Whenever they are available)
I'm happy, as I have been after this title for some time, and very rarely shows up in sealed condition
Also added Zone Of The Enders, which is exceedingly hard to get hold of in sealed condition being a Konami game, so i'm escstatic about adding that to the collection, and can only hope I get the chance to add The Second Runner at some point

Great, yes indeed! But rare as hell to get hold of sealed, being Konami releases!
Pics will come shortly once the room is finished - Not long to wait now!

It's on my list. I am in negotiations with an eBay dealer and i'm trying to get a good deal on this, as well as a few other games. At the moment they are being difficult and won't combine P&P costs on a dozen games I am interested in, so i'm holding out. Rogue Galaxy and a few others are also pending.

Yeah Gemini, just take a photo of your space where you keep all the games. I mean you must have a big storage room were boxes of boxes with sealed games are kept. Just post a photo of that, till now.
