A sad story....
A seller from a website, which shall remain nameless, was selling sealed SNES games. I looked through the list and Chrono Trigger, priced at 80$, caught my eye. I asked if he still had it, and unfortunately the response was no. But that's not where this story ends, being curious as I was, I asked who he had sold it to. He replied with an email address and said that's who he thought had bought it but couldn't remember. After I had sent him an email asking the buyer if they still had it , I sent a second email which read:
"if you'd like to sell it I'd give a decent sum for it(given its actually sealed)."
to which he responded:
"its not sealed anymore, i'm playing it."
So perishes another sealed copy. Which hopefully it wasn't really sealed, as he had a copy of super punch out that didn't have the vertical seam. Although then again the original seller also said he had sealed copies with the vertical line(i had asked) of both Super Mario RPG and Donkey Kong Country 3.

The thing is, if you have the kind of cash to spend an insane amount of money for a very rare game in sealed condition, you can afford to also buy a cheap pre-owned copy of the same game to play through. You can always resell the used copy after you're done with it. In teh case of a game like Chrono Trigger, it doesn't take more than five minutes to track down a ROM and Emulator online which does the exact same job, and enables you to play the game whilst at the same time keeping your investment safe for the future.
In my case, I either track down a ROM of the game (For older games), or borrow a copy of a game from my mates, whilst keeping my collection pristine. In the case of other games, many are now being sold on the Virtual Console or XBLA - Games like Paper Mario and Symphony Of The Night - So if you own sealed copies of these games, you can download these to your X360 / Wii quite cheaply (And legally I might add) to actually play

Re: A sad story....
Sad... but on the bright side, for the people who already own the game it just got rarer and gone up in price
