eBay Usernames Empty eBay Usernames

Post by Gemini-Phoenix Sun Nov 18, 2007 11:49 am

So who here has more than one eBay userame? I know Adol and Happyheed both have an account for buying, and also one for selling (As I also do)

Who finds it easier to keep their buying and selling separate? Or do you prefer to just have one account for everything?

Well, I find that it's a good idea to keep your buying reputation and selling reputation separate. Also, if you were to receive a Negative (Or number of Negative's) on one or other of the account's, it doesn't affect the other. Ie, if you have received two or three Negative's (For whatever reason) on your selling account, then it doesn't reflect on your buying account which is kept "Clean" so to speak

Also, if you only have one account, it is harder to tell whether a person's feedback total is from just buying or just selling or both. I prefer to have them kept separate, so it is obvious that the feedback score has been obtained purely from sales / purchases

but the new ebay version has the option to seperate the buying and selling feedback so the people can watch your buying and selling feedbacks on two different pages...

And the negative feedback argument ... okay ... but if you have one account you have the full number of positive feedbacks in one feedback number! So if you have 300 buying and 300 selling positive feedbacks I think it looks better when you have 600 on one account Smile

Bearing in mind most people who have dual accounts have had them a long long time, way before eBay decided to make things easier.

I'm not sure why other people would have a buying and selling account though, but seems standard for game collector's to have one of each. A lot of collector's I know like to have two for some reason. Perhaps Adol or Happyheed could explain their reasons?

One other reason for having two accounts is privacy. If you find that you attract too much attention bidding on high value games, then sometimes it's good to bid under a different name so fellow collector's don't bid-up against you (Yes, some are spiteful and do this on purpose!)

IMO when people have 2 ebayaccounts, the abuse of it for e.g. shill bidding is at hand.

I personally have only one ebay acc. and thats enough for me. 100% positive of course.

Me too!

As for shill-bidding... The temptation has never been there for me. If one were so inclined, it would be just as easy to get a friend or contact from another town or country to bid on your behalf. Bidding on your own things yourself is just stupidity, especially as it's so easy to get caught out.

I've also got 2 accounts. One for buying and one for selling. It's to avoid the dilemma of choosing between:

a) give a positive or neutral feedback for a bad transaction
b) or giving him what he deserves: a negative feedback , but also losing you're 100% (or more negatives)

It's also useful for reselling stuff you buy on one account without raising suspicion. Ie. if you buy a bundle cheap on your buying account, you are safe to split it up and resell as you see fit without buyers realising where you obtained the goods.
